Once a new Bontrager stem design looks good on the computer, and after running a battery of finite element analyses, we build and test prototypes. Sometimes they work. Sometimes we start over. This takes a lot longer than we would like, but it’s the right way to build bike parts. You might never notice all the detail and effort built into each Bontrager stem, but we’re pretty confident you’d notice if it weren’t there.
Refined to perfection using experience, FEA, testing and more experience. 3D forged main body. Cold-forged handlebar clamp. Side-mounted knee-saving bolts have the same roll formed threads as all of our new stems for the ultimate in fastener strength and durability. Ultra high impact strength. Lightweight design.
