* What should you look for? In a stem, stiffness, weight, fatigue and impact strength are paramount. The better
you can achieve these goals, the higher the performance you get. The catch is, there are trade offs. When you reduce the weight, you lose stiffness and strength—and fatigue life goes out the window. Easton’s TaperWall process saves weight without sacrificing performance.

weight must be achieved.Using custom-designed test machines, we studied our competition. We measuredthe stiffness, strength and fatigue life of competitive components. By understanding the weakness of our competition, we were able to engineer a better stem. We created a stem that was stronger and stiffer, with greater fatigue and impact strengths than any other stem. We also made a stem that is friendly to other components, such as handlebars and steer tubes. The patented TaperWall boom tube is extensively cold worked to increase stiffness and strength.
