THE EVOLUTION OF THE BAR that started it all. When Easton’s introduced the first CT2 bar, it set a new standard for strength and light weight. Easton’s EC70 improves on the original design. At a mere 125 grams, it is the strongest XC bar on the planet. Design Objective: Create a superior, lightweight cross-country flat bar without sacrificing strength and safety. The Technical Challenge: Create a carbon fiber handlebar with high impact strength, and low weight. Traditionally, carbon fiber bars have performed poorly in impact. Easton CT2 designs have shattered the limits of impact absorption. What should you look for? Stiffness, fatigue and impact strength, and weight are all important. Ride quality is also very noticeable in handlebars because you hold them directly. Generally, when you reduce the weight, you lose stiffness and strength. Easton’s CT2 technology allows us to make a lighter bar that is far stronger than any other and offers excellent ride characteristics.
Using custom-designed test machines, we measured the stiffness, strength and fatigue life of competitive components. While incredibly stiff, the EC70 Composite bar absorbs vibrations because of our technology that places material exactly where it is needed along the length of the bar. This is the strongest cross-country flat bar on the planet.
Rider Benefits • Lightest cross country bar available—99 grams • Extreme strength and durability • Extreme fatigue life • Excellent ride characteristics • Phenomenal shock absorption
