Shimano's top-of-the-line off-road bottom bracket, the XTR, is superlight, durable and dependable. The 8-spline interface between the bottom bracket and the crank forms a highly rigid connection. Its sealed bearings provide years of reliable service and its hollow chromoly "pipe-billet" spindle reduces weight and increases strength. Note: the spline pattern on the XTR bottom-bracket spindle is compatible only with splined Shimano Ultegra, 105, Dura-Ace and XTR cranks.
